YO.
I live here in glorious college station home of Texas World Speedway.
Ive seen here on the forums that some of ya'll come up for trackdays and races.
I dont have a trackbike, but would like to come hang out, meet some of ya'll, and check it all out. So, if any groups are coming up anytime soon Id appreciate a heads up so I can meet you guys out there.

I think the trackday season will be cranking back up in late Jan.

We're typically at all of the LSTD trackdays at TWS (Texas World Speedway) as well as all of the CMRA races.
Just look for the big black Motorcycles unlimited trailer when you come in the pits.
You're always welcome to come hang out!

Awesome. I cant wait. I have my streetbike, but no track bike. I have been wanting a track bike and I am thinking this will be a good way to get my feet wet and start checking out the whole track scene. The way I figure it is that getting good on the track will make me a better/safer street rider.

Are there any schools around Houston or at TWS (Texas World Speedway) that do track schools with rental bikes?

Dont get me wrong, I dont think there is anything wrong with riding your streetbike on the track, its just that I have a GSXR1000 and dont think I would be getting as much benefit out of it on the track as a 600. It would just be w waste for such a noob to ride a 1000 on the track, maybe down the road though.
Plus Im still financing the thing.

When I get serious though Im totally just gonna buy one of Patricks track bikes!!!!!!

Not taking a still financed bike on the track is smart. I got a used sport bike for $2700 for track use. Of course, I've spent more upgrading it but only after I decided that I liked track riding. If you buy right, then if you don't crash it and don't want to do track days, you can sell it for what you paid.

Thats what Im thinking Ill do. It will be awhile, but I wanna spend a few grand and buy something already prepped(patrick).

I just want something that will cut it on the track and be fun, but have crash protectors and primered race plastics that I wont freak out over if I put some rash on them.

Just some modifications like taking the license plate off, if you like, take the mirrors off completely (otherwise tape them up) and rent yourself some leathers or wear yours, if you have some (even a textile suit will do), and you are set.

I would recommend a trackday to anyone! You can learn more on the track then you'd ever learn on the street and it will make you a much safer street rider. Requirement to sprint and speed is not necessary nor recommended the first time, just follow your instructor and let them help you with the pace.
