Out with the old and in with the new...

Some of you know me, most of you don't since I haven't posted regularly since ~2009. I just picked up a 2010 White R6 on Sunday to upgrade from my 2003 R6 that I've had since 06 (and was my brother-in-law's before that since new) and wanted to show it off, haha.

I don't ride a ton anymore since my buddy passed away in a m/c accident and since I had my daughter shortly afterwards. I've still had the love for riding and usually just ride to work once every week or so. I'd toyed with selling the 03 numerous times but never did. Even my wife never wanted me to sell the bike (good woman).

I recently sold my 93 Mustang and had some $$ to play with. I happened to be searching for newer R6's and came across this one. I figured it was too good to be true but nope, the seller still had it and we worked out a deal. My 2003 only has 7100 miles on it and a coworker wanted to buy it so it worked out great. The 10 only has 857 miles on it. It just flipped 900 on my ride to work this morning. I might as well have a brand new bike. It already has a fender eliminator, integrated taillight, flushmounts in the front and a comp werkes pipe. The only thing I plan to do to it is raise it back to stock height (female owned previously) and have Motorcycles Unlimited set the susp up for me.

The new bike has given me more motivation to ride again. I likely still won't have much time to ride, but at least I want to more now, haha. The way I ride, this thing will have less than 5k on it in 5 years.

I'll find time to change my signature eventually since both the car and the 03 are gone now, hah.

I see you have impeccable taste so as to be wearing an X-11 Vermeulen. Me too.

What's important is not how often you ride your motorcycle, but that it is there ready in the garage when you are.

Thanks for the responses all. Now, someone find me someone local who rides an 09/10 R6 and point them to my tech question here. I need a dimension of the suspension links at the shock.

And yeah, I love the helmet. I recently got it from a local MH'er who was selling his stuff after getting out of riding for a while. Up until a few weeks back, I rode with my RF-1000 Nerve. However, after storing in the garage with my bike for years, the liner padding started breaking down and falling out all over my head. Since the liner in the RF-1000 isn't removable, that pretty much made the helmet . The top of the liner sags like a mid 80s Oldsmobile headliner. lol.

That's exactly what happened to my old helmets - Shoei RF700, or 800, or something of the early '90s era. I didn't ride for 15yrs, but the helmet came in real handy on a few occasions when I had to go knock down mud daubers around my house/garage. Those SOBs fly straight for your face too.

I finally threw away those 2 helmets, one of which was barely used by my then girlfriend now wife. I think the oil residue rubbed off our faces just eventually broke down the fabric.
