I hope he was kidding. That Gator Bait was a 2-day, AMA sanctioned race! The TSCEC series regularly pulls 10+ Pro riders. I had a great time when I rode that TXORR race in Cedar Creek and really like the kind of trails he lays out, but no way it could (or should) compete with a 2-day event like that.

I'm sure he was....plenty of riders in these parts to support the 3 or 4 series local to here.

It was so hidden away, I didn't know it existed.

The long course mileaged over 10 miles and will be a hare scramble. We will start pulling riders off the course at 1.5 hours.

Aiiight....I'm in for Sunday. What do I have to do to register and how much is it going to $$ me? Anyone else car pooling it over Sunday? First time racing, first time in a scramble and I suck donkey ! What class do I run in?

Do I need to bring anything besides me, bike and camelbak?

You register at the event at Skull Creek.

Cost...

You could join TRH and pay $45 (membership includes 1st race) + $10 for a transponder. (this would allow you discounts at other TRH races, but also requires you to put in some workdays)

If you are a TRH member it is $20 to race + $10 for a transponder

or

You could pay $35 (non member) for the long course + $10 for a transponder

You will also need numbers for your bike... you can buy a temp number at the event for an additional $5, or you can get a number before the race by following this thread...

http://www.texasoffroad.net/forum/ub...ers#Post534393

Its also my 1st Hare Scramble, and I am slow... My goal is to just finish, and try not to crash or kill the bike too much..... we will just have to see how that all works out.....

I plan on running the Beginner "D" Class (Long Course)....

you also listed what you need to bring.... you, the bike, camel back, and helmet/gear.....

not sure what is really going on inside...but, I have enough pain that I don't even want to walk. I wish I had a better story to tell, but I was trying to repair a sink in my 1960s house, tried to stand up and much of my left side went numb and my lower back went weak and achy.

I really wanted to race skull creek again too. My last trip there was an utter disappointment.

Thanks. Been calling around trying to find an appointment that is not weeks away.

, honestly, I'd like to be able to stand up over my bike and reinstall my air filter, twist my carb back around, and close up the valve cover. I adjusted the valves right after I hurt it, but I couldn't tolerate it enough to finish it out. I'd like to know that it rumbles on the first kick again...the last race at skull creek left me kicking it 20 times to get braaaaaaaaap.

I'll be glad to come by one night this week after work if you'd like me to finish it up so it isn't sitting "open" in the garage.

saw a chiropractor yesterday that had the magical healing touch. i feel 10 times better and a few inches taller than I did since Friday evening. My back still hurts a lot, so I'm not sure when I will be back on the bike...but at least the grinding feeling is gone. Now I'm just achy, which is something I can fight through.

I did get the go ahead to race from the pretty 1/2, but I'm not so sure my body is up for it. It is only Wednesday though.

Listen to your body..... Don't over do it.....

My oldest son hurt his arm at school yesterday... (another possible fracture) so it seems like he will be out for this race also.... he is hoping it is not fractured, and he can race, but I think he will be on the sidelines....

How far is this place from West Houston? I.e. what time should I be leaving in the morning to get there for registration which I see is listed as 730am?

it opens at 7:30 and closes around 11, you'll have plenty of time once you arrive so don't be in a huge hurry, it will take probably an hour or so to get there.

If you have never been to Skull Creek, the link above is a Google map showing the location.

The entrance to Skull Creek is about 1/8 mile west of the 71/90 intersection shown on the map.
