Good track bike for first time big guy??

Ok i think i want to get into track riding, not sure but Im so impulsive ill probably buy a bike just to try it lol.
What i am wondering ( i know its been asked a million times) what does everyone think would be a good bike?
I've always ridden 1k's don't know much about the 600s.. I've never ridden a track EVER, Im ALSO a bigger guy 5'11'' 250lbs.
So let the opinions fly.
Thanks folks.

There are guys RACING on 600's. You can also get a 650 and those will do just fine. Both have a lot of aftermarket support . 650's will be a lot less money spent on tires!

I built my own - a vintage Yamaha XS 650 now all tricked out. I'm 6'2" - 260# and just fit. This route is definately not for everyone, but I had a lot of fun with it.

I'm 6'5" and have been as heavy as 250#. I've rode just about every sport bike from 2005 and up, on the track. The GSXR's fit the best. R6's are the worst.

oh and Stanton is right, guys with waste lines over 38" do seem to like the tards...

The "I'm a big guy" line is lame when used for street bikes, and almost laughable when applied to track bikes. My first track-only bike was an '04 GSXR600. I'm 5'10", and have been as large as 235 lbs. Having a """little""" 600 didn't hurt me at all. In fact, I learned MORE when I went to an even smaller 550 motard.

IMHO, very few of us on here are capable of outriding the bikes we have...so to me it would be a matter of what you are comfortable with and what you can afford.
as far as the fun factor goes, that will vary with the rider.. I actually have just as much fun on my little TMGP bike as I do on the 600..it is a different feel, but it is a stone blast.. so get what you want and go have a of a good time.

I'm 6'4" @ 230. I was on a GSXR750 for a while and I loved it. Went to a GSXR600 and went faster than the 750 first time out and love it even more.

I'm 6'1 and 230 and ride a 2007 GSXR1000. It was my street bike and I did my first TD at GSS with it 5 years ago. What overkill lol. Anyway it really doesn't matter. Just get a bike your comfy on and go for it. Or just rent a bike first to check out the track scene.
