It's because "ninja" is the bikes title. That's how it was explained to me

Most insurance companies have the Versys listed as a sport bike as well. They don't usually have too many categories.

No. Total bill is about $680. ZX10 is the most expensive one on there. Deb's Harley is second. The Raider third and then ZX12, 250 Ninja and 2 scooters all have liability only.

i would like to get a new zx 14 BUT the quote was 3200.00 a year ( one payment ) or 3800.00 over the year... the name "ninja" and "engine displacement" determines the price....

Insurance quotes are meaningless unless you know exactly what the policy covers. "Full coverage" could mean very different things depending on what options, amounts, and deductibles. I used to be with Allstate, and even though they have very good rates, I switched to Progressive precisely because I can check rate through their website and try out all the options on whatever bike model & year. I too was surprised at some of the quotes. For example, a brand new VMAX turns out to be less expensive to insure than most sportbikes. I'm guessing because it is classified as a cruiser. If they only knew...

And yes, one additional bike is a whole lot different than if you have only one. Even worse if that is your ONLY transportation.

I was talking to my brother about it(He is my agent) and he said there is actually a lot more to it than engine size. They actually hire companies to analyze all kinds of factors and since the ninja 1000 is a new model they use Kawasaki's most similar model designation as a basis for the quote.
The designations are as follows:

zx-10r = ZX1000KCF
ninja 1000 = ZX1000HCF
Z1000 = ZR1000DCF

The ZX is a red flag for the insurance company.

Have you tried calling Statefarm? I was told they go only by engine size but I could be wrong. I pay $90 a month for my 05 ZX10r. Other companies wanted $140+

I have SF

And when i got insurance on my busa they quated me 65 a month then before the convwrsation was over she asked if it was a cruser or a "croch rocket" well guess what the game change price went to 101 amonth.

They profile and i think that should be agenst the.law.

my harley has a larger cc than my busa, so no they do not go off CC alone sorry

Yeah, I use State Farm and it's my brother so I am not going to change. I get good rates on everything else this one just a weird case. The rate for a brand new financed zx-10r with comprehensive coverage was $71/month btw

They all charge by different categories... that's why you shop around.

Any given bike will have drastically different prices from different companies.
