I was ready to get a Ninja 1000 until...

I got my insurance quote. Its like a dollar cheaper per month than the zx-10r and 25 bucks a month more than a zx-6r.

I just don't understand why there is such a huge difference between the 6r and the ninja 1000.

My ZX10 is $188 a year for full coverage. What's so bad about $176 a year?

I'd call some other places. Maybe they don't understand what the Ninja 1000 is.

No because the Z1000 is the same as the zx-6r. I just wanted the ninja because it comes with abs.

Kawasaki should have named it the Z1000F or something.

I am not confused...I am just saying the ninja 1000 uses the exact same engine as a Z1000 so they are not basing the quote on displacement.

I was ready for a 1k after only 13 years of riding. Guess logic got in my way.

Ah I worded that strangely. I mean the z1000 insurance price is the same as the zx-6r and I find that strange because a ninja 1000 is essentially a fully faired z1000.

Plastic breaks easily when you lay it down. The more it costs to repair, the higher the premium. A simple low side on a full fairing bike does a lot more damage than on a naked.

Usually the Z is tuned down or has less compression. There are many factors other than simply the CC. They will not run side by side

Allstate. Keep in mind I have 7 bikes on the policy, been riding forever, and get the Instructor discount.

No difference in the engine.

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/157/83...irst-Ride.aspx

The only difference between the Z and Ninja 1000 powerplants is the addition of a top speed limiter on the latter. Kawasaki decided to add the limiter because of the fully-faired Ninja’s improved aerodynamics

Really the only reason I wanted one is because I rode it at the Kawasaki demo day and I think it is the best bang for buck sport touring bike(without the high insurance) right now. I love the ninja 500 but I really want abs and my wife wants to ride the 500 but I take it to work everyday lol.

Check with a different company. There's no way that bike should only be $1/mo. cheaper than a 10R.
