Sticky Situation

I have found myself in a retarded situation and would appreciate any insights on how to navigate my way out.

I won't bore anyone with the details, but I was involved in a minor run-in with a car last week, nothing major, no one's hurt. I was at fault. I asked if we could do it out of pocket. They called me a few days later and said it would cost $1000. Should I pay out of pocket? Or claim insurance? I don't have a deductible for liability insurance, but I'll bet my premiums go up.

But here's where it gets really dumb. I'm going to be moving out of state in June, and won't be taking the bike. What will the insurance company say if I make a claim, then cancel the policy?

Yes, pay out of pocket. If you think that's not a fair price tell them you want to take it to a different garage.

If the price is legit then just pay, but make sure you have them sign something saying they will absolve you of any further legal action....cover yo azz
