DRZ400S - To buy or bye

Finally scared up a DRZ400S...went and looked and starting to mull over financing it. I wanted a 400SM but on account of none being made since 09 it is an uphill battle. I need some advice on what the cost would be to build an SM replica out of the S so I can make an educated decision. Keep looking for a used SM or bite the bullet on the S. THANKS!

To build a replica of an SM from an S would involve changing the swingarm and front forks as well as the wheels. Too expensive to do unless you get a smokin deal on the parts. I would hold out for the SM, they come around in waves. The swingarm and front forks as far as I understand are from the RMZ450 or something. So the S has conventional forks and the SM has USD forks with the RMZ rear swinger. Good luck and keep an eye on Craigslist and here as well as Two Wheeled Texans, ADV Rider, and Supermotojunkie.com just to be sure. You can find them pop up here and there.

I refuse to make an offer until you decide to abandon the drz.

For what its worth, you will regret selling the dizzer the first time you blow something else up.

Yeah I found the DRZ in Houston and Killeen. I will probably hold out a little longer, I want one and I have the money but Id like to build up a little bit more cushion. Thanks for the advice guys... I will hold out for the SM.

The person who just bought my 450 has a 400sm with full Yosh exhaust he is trying to sell. Really nice guy but not sure if you want to drive to San Antonio.

I have an E model, converted to SM in every way. I never would have done the conversion, but I had a blown motor SM thrown my way for super cheap and I rebuilt another motor within an E-frame in better condition. I'd sell you mine for $2600. Come look at it at MSRH on the 29th. I think I am going over to the Husky dark side soon...
