trails/offroad within an hour of Houston?

Howdy everyone,

Where are the best trails/offroad legal places to ride within an hour of the Houston area (missouri city to be exact)?

Not really looking for mx tracks. I'm attempting to break in a harley guy into the world of offroad. Just looking for some good ol trails/pits to play in.

where could one go to ride a property like this without joining a club or event, or having to ride in a race?

You can ride at Skull Creek as a guest. That's how I've ridden it outside of a race there. You just have to pay a day fee, $15 maybe? Can't remember specifically.

EDIT: I just read the rules on their website and you have to have a member invite you as a guest. If you ride with any regularity though, a $250 yearly membership isn't that bad. Go about once a month and it's about even. The 2 nice places around Austin are $350 a year or more. $250 isn't too bad.

Huge trails system at National Forest. Go to New Waverly and turn left. Get at pass and a map at the ranger station. It is on the north side of Lake Conroe.

trails are currently closed for indefinite period of time due to tree cutting (and falling) due to last years drought.

Join us at Rio Bravo sometime...(inside the Beltway; E of 59 on N Lake Houston Pkwy) they have some trails, some MX and hidden trails somewhere nearby.

I've been thinking about going to Rio Bravo. How busy does it get on the weekends? Seems like it would be packed.

creekside offroad park is cool, mosly 4 wheeler trails but theres plenty of land to just cut up on and theres still one mx track in the back so you can play on the jumps.

they have some camping and showers if you wanted to make a overnight out of it.

Ive been a member of Skull Creek, great place to ride. However there are a ton of machine miners tearing the places up when I was a member for a few years. We would create some nice tracks and trails, then these people would come and bulldoze everything down.

what is rio bravo? is it actual organized mx track?

Went to creekside last weekend. Didn't get to see much of it. Roommate got too excited, followed me over a jump, and learned how important it is not to grab a fist full of front brake, mid-air. Seemed like alot of sand, and washed out mud holes. does it get better when you get further back into it?

Yea rio is an actual track, been around forever. Pretty cool place.
At Creekside theres only like 1 or 2 more decent trails in the back. Pretty fun place when it's dry but any time there's rain it goes to . I've tried to talk them into prepping the mx track but they refuse too.

This is why I have a street legal dirtbike, just not enough legal places to ride. Now bayous trails and drainage in the city of Houston is ample. PM me for treasure map of northside trail system treasure map if interested.
