And just for record, California is the only place in the US where it is legal.
And you are still completely at fault if anything were to happen.
Personally, I'd rather sweat sitting on my bike than sitting on the curb.

What would he have done in this situation? Witnessed on I-10. That is the on ramp.

Looked at them like an idiot. Then made sure I was in the right. Then continue to look at them like an idiot.

About 9AM yesterday on Dixie Farm a HPD motocop filtered in my lane between me and an SUV in the RH lane. I was on the motorcycle, riding on the RHS of the left lane and I was a bit startled as I didn't see him 'till he passed. He gassed it up the road, but still had to stop at the same red light I had to stop for.

The only time I see filtering as being justified is if you need to get around someone to make a right turn.
Aside from that, I don't need some jackass squid or Harley w/ straight pipes 2 inches from my driver window just so he can move up a few possitions.

I watched a brother on a chromed out Harley almost clip 3-4 cars while he was ping ponging down the middle lane for no apparent reason aside from his own unwillingness to wait an extra 30 seconds for the light to turn green.
It startles the outta everyone and if he makes one wrong move your gonna have a nice sized scrape/dent on your car.

Not saying people should try to stop them, but some bikers need to think about how they make others feel when they do some of the they do.

Edit:
The only other time filtering would be prudent would be in solid gridlock, though it should be done with consideration.
If our city streets had a decent sized shoulder, more people would probably ride to work.
