I would get a lawyer for sure. It's always been cheaper in the long run. You dont have to miss work or school for court and they get it taken care of. No brainer

pay for a lawyer, fresnal is excellent. You will pay way more in the long run for insurance if you don't get it resolved properly.

I just hired Phan. He seems like a straight shooter. I just got tagged by Mo City/ 80 in a 55 and failure to stop at red light. My other buddy had good luck with him. Lawyer up because you dont want the points on your license AND the insurance increase that comes along with it. You may pay a bit up front but a lawyer has more bargaining currency than you do.

I would definately try and hire Fresnal for this one. Sugarland doesn't play.

Financially and time wise I think a lawyer bears the least risk. They would take care of it once school picks back up next week.

okay so i talked to 2 attorney's

one- wants me to plead not guilty and go from there, isint that lying in court?

other- plead no contest and hope for differed, if i dont get it appeal to higher court which means another court date and more money..

no clue which one to choose

one seems like just a firm with alot of cases

other seems like nice guy who is willing to work with me

suggestions?

if you pleas not guilty, DA will reset your court date, if popo doesnt up on the second court date, ticket will be dismissed, if popo shows up, you can still ask judge to allow you to take DDC (if she or he is nice), or you can plead no contest and ask for deferred adjudication...

If it was in Pearland in Brazoria county or Houston in Harris county, you would have been better off. Though they probably wouldn't have even bothered to pull you over. Sugarland and Fort Bend county in general is weird. Most places just want your money, they want your money and then for everyone else to get their cut too (insurance co, the state, ect...).

I don't know maybe they get sick of cleaning up soccer moms that get plastered in their minivans when they pull out in front of trucks on Hwy-6. People can't seem to drive in this area... They are lined up on Hwy-6 usually ready to pop folks, maybe they are cracking down on 59 too?

A few months back I read that the city of Sugar Land got a federal grant to pay for overtime to be used for speed enforcement on 59, 90, and 6. I've learned to stay with the flow of traffic in those areas.

On one occasion, though, I did get cited for a speed that for which normally you can't get deferred adjudication. I used a lawyer recommended by some friends at work, and he was able to get it for me.

I think my total out-of-pocket, including the lawyer, was $350 or so.

Good luck!

They also get a federal grant to crack down on marijuana users.

I don't understand why they need the money. No actual crime takes place here so where exactly are the resources going?

I got pulled over for doing 90 in a 60 mph zone, didn't signal and had the wrong address on my DL. A 550 fine ended up paying 200, the cop that pulled me over didn't show up. If its on downtown just reschedule your court date and hope that in 6 months he doesn't show up.
