50s are great to learn on because you learn to use weight transfer and not rely solely on power. Dirt / trail riding is a natural since you use wheelies to clear obstacles. Trials bikes are the easiest to learn stand up wheelies. I would hate to have had to learn on a street bike. I always recommend to avoid the clutch when beginning - learn to compress forks and use fork rebound with weight transfer and the sweet spot on your powerband to get it up. Balance point angle is dependent on body position. Stand up gives you more options on body position but makes it harder to cover rear brake.
Get a 50 or dirt bike

Absent getting a 50, you could look up "how to wheelie" on youtube for some advice.

My experience (i'm still learning), I'll do about 40-50ish, sitting down, in 2nd, clutching up, & throwing my body back a little bit. It's comes up smoother, on my bike, at that speed. I'm getting about 100 yards so far & learning the balancing point. I've haven't try grabbing gears yet. I'm still a little scare lol

Don't worry about switching gears in a wheelie. If you're riding bp, you won't need to switch gears.

I learned wheelies on a quad. Everything I learned about balance point and using the rear brake carried right over to street bikes.

I can grab gears on my friend's racing four wheeler & ride forever or ride slower than someone can walk normally. I'm a little scare to go any faster on a wheelie, than 2nd goes, because of tank slap. But I would like to grab 3rd & slow it down, with the back brake & ride a slower wheelie.
