Need some help on what to do for New Years..

I just found out that some of my family from NY is coming down for my sisters 30th bday on the 30th. Everyone is adults except for one of my cousins who is 17. Since everyone is going to be going out to bars and everything else for New Years, I said that I will take care of my cuz so she won't be alone and everyone else can get shitty.

Does anyone know if downtown is having any festivals or anything going on for all ages? I tried looking on chron.com and googled to see if Downtown is having any parties or anything like they do for the 4th of July but haven't found anything.

And before any of you guys say anything....NO I WILL NOT LET YOU KEEP HER "COMPANY"

Thanks in advance.

I know a empty area of town where we can hook an LV purse to a peice of string, and slowly pull it away from her while she chases it. That should keep her busy for like, 40 hours.

I don't know if it is actually a 21+ party, but don't they have a new years celebration downtown every year? I went to the one during New Years 2000 and they had bands, fireworks ect, ect. All the clubs & resturants in the Bayou Place where open and they had around 4 blocks, the theatre district area, seperated off.

Not sure if they do it every year and not sure where they would list it.

WOW. I just spent an hour looking for anything mentioning a downtown celebration and nada. I went to news station websites, visitor bureau websites, ect. and nothing at all. You would figure they would not try to hush a celebration if it where going to be. Maybe they stopped it after a few years it beats me. Hope you find something worth while.

Good luck in your search.

P.S. Don't know what side of town you are on but they many times have fireworks shows at the Sam Houston Race Park. They did one for July 4th. Not sure about this New Years though and their web site sucks. Only gives a weekly calender.
