When To Change Tires?

So, I thought I could get about 800 miles left out of these after I took it to the inspection station about 2 weeks ago.

Think I got like 350-400. Think I've had 3 fill-ups since then. Not sure though, at lowest 300.

This tire has done like 8700 miles, front still looks good with no cracks in side walls, but I'm gonna replace both anyway.

Definitely not riding again until they're new.

The IRC road winners wear like that as with many tires. Rears wear out fast from heavy acceleration. They are ok tires if you don't push them hard. What kind of riding do you do? Lots of commuting and occasional spirited rides? A good amount of folks run BT-16 front and BT-23 rears for equal wear do they replace both tires at one time. BT-45s are a slightly better tire than your current tires and will last a bit longer. Michellin also has a great tire sport touring tire as well but I have no experience with them.

Yeah sounds about right.

These I got with my bike and I wanted to get the BT 45's as a replacement
Lots of freeway travel. Anything low speed will be spirited. These tires seemed to scrub a lot of rubber without giving much feedback.

I had a lot of confidence in the wet though.

If you let a tire go low on a car.. it's an inconvenience when it goes flat..

I've been on a bike at 100~ mph and lose a front tire...

Trust me... I change them at the wear indicators now.

Have you checked out cheap tires? They have really good prices. I paid $303 for BT16 front and rear installed.

Check out 2wheeltoys they're a sponsor on here and have great tire prices. The BTO16's are going for $255 +tax right now. Plus installation is free.

8700 miles??? I'd be lucky if I get 3K on a set and I've got 44K on my bike now. Everyone at work thinks I'm crazy for buying new tires every 3K but I try getting as much as I can out of them too.

When To Change Tires?

Thats about what my center looks like after 2400 miles on a Q2 but you have wayyy too much tread left on the sides...

Sooo you guys are saying that shiny wear indicator down the middle is a bit far???

I've got 4200 miles on my BT23 rear/BT16 front setup. I'd say the rear is at 70% left. I do 95% all highway, with a couple little burnouts here and there. I'd like to get 12K miles out of it. I know, I'm not going to do anymore burnouts.

Wait for em to go flat... Replace tire loljk . But yes, usually when it gets to the wear bar indicators. Anything after that, I feel uneasy pushing it. I was pretty happy the first time i tore thru the sides before the center.

All those tires look nice compared to what I got changed out last week. Wires, about an inch thick, was showing all the way around & missing in some spots.
