Glad you're just mostly bruised. Today I had a first in 30+ years of riding, a guy in a SUV started to pull out in front of me on 518 in Friendswood, I hit the brakes, he stops, waves and mouthes "I'm sorry."

homie... sorry to hear this. Heal up quick... I will try to go over motorcycle safety more in depth at the next noob ride..

All jokes aside though... glad you are just skinned up and not worse... If you need a break from the DRZ you can always store it in my garage until you heal up

Same thing happened to a good friend of mine but our other good friend was riding behind him. When the guy took off, he got chased down and returned to the scene to take responsibility.

Moral of the story: It happens every once in a while, unfortunately not most of the time.
