That flight path will bring the shuttle almost directly over Houston on re-entry at about 4:16pm. The shuttle will cross 34 miles due north of the city. We will hear the sonic boom even if we can't see the shuttle in the sky.
heard a boom and the house shifted a little

We tried to see the shuttle flying over here at work and all ran out on top of the parking garage. We missed it by about two minutes.

Is that what it was?! OMG, it scared the buh-jeezus outta me. I went through a short list of scenarios.. First I thought something hit my house.. (peeked out all the windows), then I thought my neighbor went postal or something (peeked out the window on his side, again), then I figured something blew up. (was in high school when a plant in pasadena blew and knocked me outta my desk cuz I was leaning it over. hehe)

I have to admit, Space Shuttle Discovery flying over at warp speed was not one of the scenarios that came to mind.

I was sleeping off some more pain medication, and I heard a large thump, I thought the dog knocked something over, so I screamed out the door for him to quit his , and he looked up from me at the edge of the bed, so I just shrugged it off.

We weren't sure where in Houston they were referring to (like 36miles north of downtown Houston or where) but we tried. We are near Tomball. We didn't even really here the boom. I think I heard something while running up the stairs but we were huffing and puffing and all chit-chatting on cellphones. :eh:
