Heat gun, a credit card to get the edge started, and your fingers. Go easy with the heat gun, don't want to burn tire rubber.

Follow up with an adhesive remover to get the backing off.

Goo-Gone is just as greasy, you just have to be careful with it. Or you can hit it with some degreaser after you're done.

Thumbs up reflective tape removal

3-M sells A stripe, and sticker remover, it resembals 4 or 5 layers of foam rubber about the size of a CD-1/16" thick each put together flat, with a mandrell for A drill. body shops use them, the only places you can find them are auto paint suppliers, they work well, they take off the tape, glue, everything, and it wont hurt the paint.

My girl simply pulled at the edge. Came off nice and clean, no residue... maybe the bike had cheap stripes or something.

Yep, It wasn't perfectly straight (round?), and she decided she would like red... most likely reflective red.
