Shoei rf-1000 question

Ok, the leather on the base pad (no idea what else to call it. The padding around the base of the helmet) has cracked. I look around for replacement parts, and don't see this pad listed. Can it be replaced? It is bugging the out of me. I love the helmet, but can't stand that that part is cracked.

Ugh. They said it takes a trained tech to replace that. Send in helmet, and they will call to tell me how much to fix. Wonder what the turnaround time is.

The pad that sits right on the crown of my head dry rotted on my $400 plus Shoei RF1000.. Shoei customer service say there is nothing they can do because the pad isn't removable. So I replace it with a Bell Ride Smart-1. I got it today and it looks and fits awesome. Can't wait to ride in it! Helmet reviews highly recommend it against way more expensive lids! Retails for $400 and I picked one on motorcyclecloseouts.com for $200!! Shoei going on ebay real soon!
