sorry to your thread....hope my sarcastic voice come through..anyway

What is "fast" to you. You want to be fast in corners, straight

you want ride track I hope?

How about starting with maybe a 500-650. Should be a little more forgiving.

I want a fast bike to run down the 1320'

If I want to learn how to ride on a 600 I can always borrow a friend's or something. I'm not going to buy a bike that is slower than my car.

the only tracks within an hour drive of me are 1/4 mile tracks for drag racing. i have a blast racing down the 1320' and IMO bikes would be a good thing to play with. nobody that I know of around my area actually builds them, so it would be a good addition to my list of things I know how to do.

don't get me wrong i'd love to go to a road race track and bring cars and bikes, but that just isn't something I would do since it is too far away from me.

Understand the background in high-perf cars, but motorcycling requires a whole 'nother set of skills. Would you want a 2000HP Reno racer for your first airplane?

That said, since you already have quite a bit of riding experience (with dirt bikes), I'd say go right ahead. Turbo busa it is.

Based on all I've heard/seen/experienced, the danger lies in the ATTITUDE of the new rider, not the BIKE.

Ya, because a ninja 250 1/4 mile bike would be a blast.. You will have to sift through this kind of stuff on here..

I look forward to watching your build or at least the finished project, let's see some cars now haha

Ditto.

Maybe I'm just confused at the whole situation really.
One minute its "it would be fun to build one and take it for a weekend cruise or occasional stroll down the 1320'"
The next it's "Gotta be faster than my 8 second Integra that's a zr1 killer, why would I buy a bike slower than my car?"

Hence the Bonneville racer. It's definitely faster than an Integra, still take a weekend cruise on the flats, and it could stroll down the 1320.
What, I thought it was a good recommendation for all these wants/needs.

Hey Mike! I didn't know you were so eager to get a bike...next time we meet up, we can talk about it. I could see you getting something everyone *thinks* is slow (let's say a Kawsaki Versys or ER6N...650cc 2cyl EFI) and slapping a turbo on it

I think I know your goal and that being said, I think a first gen Busa might work for you. Second would work too just more expensive and a little less after market for em.

Id love to sit down and have a a beer or whatever with you and talk more about bikes. I live right around the corner from ormand. Maybe we could do a mini meet?
Or maybe another HRP/Royal Purple day? It would be a great oppurtunity for Mike to see what bikes are out there and it's not as far away for Mike to goto. I'd love to learn how to lauch a bike properly and maybe I will finally learn how to properly shift

All of the modern 600ss bikes will do the 1/4 in the 10s. I know you talk about 'stomping' 600s with your cars on the other site but I don't recall you ever posting times in the 10.8 range. Just in my opinion if you start out on a liter bike (or really even a 600) your riding ability will progress much more slowly and you'll really suffer because of it in the long run. Riding a fast bike is nothing like driving a fast car.

listen guy, you do what you want to do....I understand the wanting to go fast down the 1320', but I would love to see you live to do it twice... and while you have some dirt bike experience from what i read...the route you are choosing as a first two wheel venture is too much... get your life insurance paid up for your family.
after all this is an internet forum it is our job to with you.

I too am easily confused. I was thinking strip bike originally, but either way I like messing with the 'preachers' on this board

well the preachers that are not busy molesting little boys or the deacon's wife are usually telling the truth.
