A couple of wks ago, I met a gentleman from Germany and he owns a Buell that is all tricked out. He imported it to the USA, since he now works here in Houston, but had to ship it back to Germany after 1yr because of EPA rules. He said something that was very interesting...

It matters not how often you get to ride your bike, only that it is there when you want to ride.

That is how I was able to afford my bike. I bought it when it was almost a year old and it had 220 miles. I paid cash at the time and it saved me about $15k. The owner of the dealer new the bike owner well and sold him the bike. He had several bikes and also quite a few exotic and antique cars. Some people just have $$$$$ to blow.

20 miles? 300 miles in 7 years? 300 miles is only a couple hours of riding. And 20 miles in 6 months... that's likes single commute.

I can't comprehend it...

Their money... if I was rich, I'd have a couple bikes, can't ride all of them at once!

It doesn't bother me, I like nearly new bikes at half the price. A couple years ago my brother picked up a brand new 04 z1000 for $4k. We literally had to put the acid in the battery to start it for the first time.

Why complain?
In 10 years you'll still have the choice of buying an original low mile bike.

Heck, I bought a 4 year old bike with 17xx miles on it. I thank the previous owner for taking the depreciation hit and providing me with a practically new bike.

I've said the same thing about old men and rich wives driving Impala SSs and Vettes. They aren't "using" them, but we can get a non-ragged out car eventually.

When I boguht my ZX 10, two years ago it was an 07, with 149 mile son it. The guy that bought it was scared of it and stored it in his house. I had the bike for a year but only put another 400 miles on it.

I would have put more miles on it but I spent 6 month in Kazakhstan.

I sold the ZX10 and bought a Harley, in the last year I have only put on 2,000 miles on the Harley, but then again I was in Singapore in June and July, and spent from August of 2011 to March of this year on the North Slope.

I also have a 2006 ford tauraus that I drive when I am in Town, for a 6 year old car, I am just now turning 40,000 miles.

All my is low mileage, becasue I do not have the time to ride them, as i am either out of town, or out of the country.

I used to put nearly 500 miles on mine every weekend. Had ~26,000 miles on it in the first year alone. I was putting new tires on it every month. Some people ride and some don't. Everyone's perspective is different.
