Only reason they had for making them was that was the bike for Superbike (750CC) for a looong time. Once they went to 1000 and no longer had a 750 class, people quit buying.

Still just about the perfect size for all around sport and track.

I thought it had something to do with how fast the newer 600's have gotten. Those suckers are sometimes as fast as some 1000 and more nimble!

Suzuki continues to produce the 750 because that is where they started, and they vowed to continue producing it. It's about honor with them.

Not so much.. fast as in top speed close but still 20+ mph slower than a same year 1000.. quick as in quarter mile ET still a half second slower at least. Any new 1000 will hit the 186 limiter or very close, whereas the 600 is lucky to get much past 160-165.

More nimble, yes and no... newer 1000's are very close in weight and wheelbase to a 600

The only reason these bikes ever came to be was for racing legalities.

Then everyone on the street started clamering for them...

If Superbike decided to change the rules to an 800, all these 1000 models would disappear.. or at least get little if any development.

CB750/900/1100 were their Superbikes
Also the RC45 which was the basis of the VFR

CBR didn't start until the later 600 series

My brother is selling his YZF750 if anyone is interested in making him a serious offer. It has been sitting for a while and needs a little work but it is all stock.
