I'm always faster in a cage than on the bike for long hauls.

I can eat, smoke or even while I'm driving. Not so when in the bike.

Yeah I am sure lots of pictures will be taken. If my Griso doesn't prove reliable in the next few months I'll be on my Triple, even if the Triple isn't the most reliable steed either.

I rode from LA back to Houston in '86, with about $80 in my pocket. Discovered that advance planning for overnight stops is the way to go. I'd thought I could just find a spot to pull off the freeway, throw down a sleeping bag, and sleep; not so much. You can be 50 miles from anything, and there's still barbed wire fence along the land next to the freeways. Definitely preferable to have a KOA directory or some such in your saddlebag.

I didn't want to just grind along I-10 the whole way, so went through Las Vegas, Zion Nat'l Park, Flagstaff AZ, east to the panhandle, and then SE down through Texas on the smaller state highways.

I also suggest you have a tinted shield or some good glasses. If you don't have to squint your eyes all day you don't fatigue nearly as quickly.
