restricting hp on bike

there are many countries that reduce the hp on bikes, esp. for new riders. i never knew how till i seen this.

i would think w/ todays elec. they could just remap it, but thats not the case

They do this on scooters in Denmark. Since bikes are so expensive there everyone rides scooters but they aren't supposed to be able to go over a certain speed. They trick them out where they can pop wheelies and give them repsol Honda paint jobs. Pretty funny seeing a guy ride around like he's the on a scooter.

Does the gov mandate this and the bike maker installs it, or does the gov install it after production?

...and sometime they just make a smaller engine.
Aka... sv400 instead of sv650.

kinda' reminds me of the Full Auto Sear Block they put in some of the AR-15's. But like everything else someone will find a way to defeat it.

my Ape has a Map2 stored inside that you get unlocked once you get an afermrket exhaust vs OE

thats a helluva detune though. they start closing the throttles AND pulling timing at 10k vs the euro ecu. they blame noise levels.... not emissions for that shiz...

with the reflash, power keeps building till redline, putting down 180+ with stock everything. even more gains were found with just a pc and a slip on....

In the UK the most popular restricting kits were no more than small circular steel plates pressed to the size of the inlet duct with about a 1/4" hole drilled in the middle to restrict induction flow. This was the done way on carbed bikes allowing newly qualified riders of a given age (restricted to 33bhp) to jump on a blade, R1 etc

Kits, i'm pretty sure cost about 50 cents to make, 25 to 30 in eu approval and sold for 2 to 300 dollors retail, easy money....

Dude, I would love an SV400! Can you imagine kicking some R1 tail on that!

R1 guy, "Man you were flying on that, what is that an SV1000?"

SV guy, "No it is a 400"

R1 guy, "no way"

Sv guy, "A little more of this (twisting right hand) and a little less of this (squeezing right fore and middle fingers)"

Of course, I like the smaller displacement bikes anyway...
