Unsafe lane change would be easy to fight. They must prove that what you did was actually not safe using objective proof which is rather difficult.

The system is very much designed to intimidate people inti coughing up the dough.

As for the OP. You should always stop before the sign for your own safety. I recommended comedy driving dot com. It is $25 and online.

like others have said, if its sugarland, just bend over and take it. the cop WILL show up. and even if its unsafe lane change and 'fightable' its your word against cop. the judge will take cops word over yours everytime.

that being said, just do defensive driving or deferred and dont get any tickets in the meantime.
