50 motor options.

Bout that time to go big bore for my big body self. I'm looking for a good motor setup. Mainly bolt on complete motors. Right now I'm leaning towards the lifan 140cc 4 spd with oil cooler for under 400. Yes I know I can do 88 kit, but I want a 4 speed and clutch. Main purposes would be stunt and commuting. Hoping to get it to run 65 flat out. Lmk what setup you guys are running

I'd say vast majority run an 88cc kit. Alot of those guys also have a 4 speed tranny as well. lol, i don't think they run 65 but the 4 speed tranny helps out a bit with top speed compared to stock.

I've never ridden a bike with one of those lifan motors. I've always been curious since they are really cheap.

It is going to take a LOT of money to get a 50 to run 65 mph flat out.

Just using that tranny alone you would need a ~1.5 gear ratio alone to reach 65 mph at max RPMs.

That's a 16t front and a 25t rear with a 10 inch tire, I highly doubt there's enough HP to drive that out of that engine.

I'm curious just how stable 65mph on a 50 is going to be.

that is a lot of "go" on a real small platform...
let us know how it works out.

65 on a 50 would be scary. Don't sneeze while at speed or it's all over...

upgrade the suspension and get a frame cradle to make it more stable...65mph on a stock 50 platform seems like alot but Im sure it can be done

Gonna have to go full frame mod to commute like that, might as well get a 150ror something. I'd go 88 for stuntin , clutches on these little bikes aren't all that useful and generally stiff and all or nothing. TB is the route I would go.

I have a small 6.5hp clone engined minibike (not a 50 though) that will do that with ease and stable and smooooooth.
easily makes over 20+hp on alky.
scary but fun too.

How do you like the motor tiffany? Im just considering it because a tb race head 88kit and a 4 spd/clutch is a tad bit more than i want to spend just for a commuter/lot machine.

For a lot toy you don't really want the race head 88 kit. The TB stage 2 88 kit is very strong. The race head makes the motor more high strung and less stunt friendly.

I haven't really got on it, it's pretty good. It's 4 up, and you dont pull in the cluch to kick start so thats strange to me.
