Coolest thing happend to me at gear shop today

This is by no means an advertisement Anyways, I stopped by to return some un-used fork oil for store credit since I didn't have a receipt. I wanted a tinted visor in exchange, and wanted to use it right then. I went to install it and the cashier was like let me do it for you.

Ended up breaking a tab off on my helmet that holds the visor, ended up walking out with a brand new helmet and tinted visor installed. i was happy. cycle gear is pretty nice.

Good thing they did it for you. It may have been you who broke it and you would be screwed.

Yeah, I almost never go in there anymore because they don't carry the selection of decent stuff that they used to have.

+1 I picked one up several months ago when they were having that sale. Works much nicer than the home built stuff I was using.

They are advertising the cheap gear like crazy because there's such a high margin in it. No R&D to pay for, no dealer network, total win for them.

They still have some quality stuff there, it's just at "normal" prices.

I'm gonna have to disagree with this...

Try to get an oil change done, or a valve adjustment, just try to buy a screw or bolt.
See if they can give you advice on how to setup your suspension or repair speaking shift shaft seal.
Most of those guys don't have any detailed knowledge about bikes.

That's true for gear but for oils, filters, lube, tubes, tires, etc they actually have pretty decent prices on the name brand stuff. And being open on both Sunday and Monday is main reason they get part of my business.

Sad part of this post; my guess the helmet they screwed up will probably be forced back to the supplier as a return. CG has enough buying power they won't get return refused by the mfr or distributor. So we'll all end up paying for that helmet when CG should've ate the cost on their own since it was their employee that caused the damage.
