Half the problem is that I shouldn't have ever been that far back. Good news is that I have basically nowhere to go except forward.

Thanks but it aint fast enough apparently LOL! .. it's takes a low :44 just to get on the box at World in the Expert A classes.

Sometimes I reflect on my early MH days and chuckle at the cash that some track day guys or racers used to talk to me and some of my street riding buddies. They acted like they knew so much and were so gawddamn fast.

That was before I knew you could be whatever you wanted to be online. Now I know better.

Andy, you are ridiculous on that SV.. One of these days I'm coming for you, just not anytime soon haha

Not the finishes I was really hoping for, but for the first weekend and with who showed up and the times they were running I'm real happy with them

F2 - 5th
SSD - 5th
LWT - 4th
SBD - 6th

All of the races were pretty drama free, except for superbike d. I caught neutral trying a quick downshift into the gravity bowl and ended up running off but was able to somehow keep it upright even though I fully expected to crash haha. Got passed by everyone that I had made it by and then got back on the track and got those spots back and set a couple new personal bests on the following laps trying to make up more ground. With the best being a 2:06.4, still a ways off pace though

This was the most fun I have had on the track, I was really suprised how much more intense it is than a trackday and how tired you can get after only 6 laps at my slower pace. I was steadily dropping times all day and was feeling better and better. I'm shooting for the 2:00 mark before the end of this year there for sure. I have several vids from the two cams, including one cam on the brake/gas which came out pretty sweet for overlays but just haven't uploaded anything yet

Way to go those arent bad results. You can get 2:00 easy work on a couple corners.

This was the first race weekend in a long time where I felt 100% prepared, both mentally and physically. Friday's practice was great, tried some different gearing on Saturday during the endurance race and Sunday morning ran some decent lap times in practice. I figured it would be a good weekend for me. Not so much...lol!

I managed to crash on the first lap of my first race in the gravity bowl. Fortunately, the bike was repairable and thanks to Jeff, Derek, Aileen and Sherron, we were able to get her back together for my last two races of the day. I borrowed Jeff's SV for the C superstock race, completed two laps and salvaged some points.

How does that old saying go? That's racing!

B Superstock - DNF
C Superstock - 25th
B Superbike - 8th
C Superbike - 13th

Hoping for better results at ECR

.
so out of intrest who do you feel taught you the most about going fast and racing???
is it just seat time and big ,
is it learning from the racing itself,
was it advanced classes or a relationship with a suspension guy, engine builder, fellow racer etc,
or a combination of all the above??
or something quite different?
give us an insight for those of us that remember you leaning over an R6 in your yard to guage ground clearance
you've come a long way

Dang! I forgot about that whole R6 ordeal. LOL Geez... I was so clueless. Still am about a lot of stuff.

To answer your questions it's a combination of all those things but I think I just wanted to go fast and I knew that I didn't know how to so I was very teachable. One thing that I have always done is TRY everything that the fast guys suggested I try and I never made excuses. Sometimes when I work with guys every critique I give them, they give me a reason or excuse for it. How can you really progress like that?

I always tried to keep up with the guy that just passed me, I listened to guys like Ty, Alonzo, Jimmy, Allan, Irish and others who were all faster than me. I crashed a lot, wasn't overly scared (can't say I wasn't scared at all cuz I get scared all the time!), I lost weight, took advanced classes, made a bunch of mistakes and I really cared about my lap times.

Nowadays I just try to keep my weight down and try to hang with the front runners for as long as I can and ain't scared to crash trying.

I also endurance race.

I need about 2 seconds at every single track.

On deck is doing something with this stock motor.

Edit: And I don't have this stuff figured out yet. Not even close. I'm still amazed at the guys in front of me. I have a long way to go to get where I want to be, but it isn't as far away as it once was.
