welp... y'all have me nearly convinced

i wanna dump the boy's 4-wheeler and get a couple little motards. he's never ridden a motorcycle before, but figured he'd have to start somewhere. he's almost 8, btw.

what kinda little motard do y'all recommend that is both fun, easy to operate (no clutch just yet), and isn't a complete pig like my old drz? i'd like to get one too so we can BOTH get out on that katy track i keep hearing so much about.

anyhow, i think i might could get ~$1k for the 4-wheeler (2009 polaris outlaw 90, with title), so that's what i'd like to be around or under for his bike and maybe PART of one for me.

thanks y'all!

Get a fiddy to start with. They will run 500-1000. centrifugal clutch, so no clutch, just shifting.

this... throw some dunlop TT92's on it.

and if you ever want more speed and a clutch. you can throw and 88 kit into it for cheap after he gets used to it.

All I can think of is a CRF50 or a KLX110. KLX110 might be over your 1k mark unless you find a deal on one.

agg2001, I have a 50 you can look at and have him ride to see if it is what you are wanting for him. We just set up a meeting time. PM me so we can get the ball rolling.

Yes, you can easily put a Big Bore kit on the 50 for a good increase in power.

Actually depending on his size at 8 years old a crf50 mighth be a little small for him. The XR70's and PW80 will be comparable and might fit him a little better, but just have him sit on a few at dealers and you will figure it out.

klx110, tons of aftermarket like the 50 but with a little bit larger platform

you can get on for under 1k, get a kx60 rear hoop and lace to the front klx hub and you will have 12's front and rear for cheap!

klx 110

it has a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE aftermarket following, it is slightly bigger to begin with thus will last a lot longer, you can increase swingarm and forks and wheels, big bore kits, ect.. into a mid size motard that will last him through his teens.
