Welcome to the site!

You must not own a sportbike like most on here.
I'd wager most would turn around or fall off a trip like that after a few hours.
Monkey and cramping neck on a long boring freeway aint my idea of a good time.

One of these days I'll get a touring bike and start racking up some miles seeing this great country of ours.

Riding out to 3090 was about all my tender rump could handle on the 450.

Well, the weather was perfect! That's about all that was, though.

I set out around 7pm from Conroe. Slab to Victoria where around midnight I realized my brand-new battery wasn't charging. I picked up a tender at Walmart and hoped for the best.

Kept riding South, I decided I was going to Goose Island State Park to camp for the night. I stopped in at a Bar at the end of the road in Lamar around 1am and had a few beers before they closed the place down. I was wondering why there weren't many people there... the 5 men sitting at the bar were all waiting for their ladies to get off work! Still, I bought a round and one guy gave me some Crawfish he had brought.

The sign said the campground was full, but I paid my ten bucks and hung my hammoc off to the side of one of the larger campsites. I woke up next to a Boy Scout troop from San Antonio who gave me breakfast and jumped my bike. On to Rockport where I stopped in at a gunshow and picked up a new .367 - Gotta love TX.

Here I realized I was going to need some help to get home because every time I shut the bike off to get fuel I had to bump it or get a jump. 2pm on a Saturday I meet up with Marcos who owns Cycle Import. He helped me troubleshoot my electrical system and sold me a spare battery to put on charge.

Now traffic is REALLY starting to get bad and I wanted to see Mustang Island so I headed off across the bridge. Another biker explained to me that the lane-splitting is the only way to fly on these crowded holiday weekends. I made it over the bridge before my bike died again. I barely got it into the Padre Island Burger Company where I brought out my spare battery and charged it over green beer or two.

Charged-up, I decided it was best to head home rather than try St. Patrick's Day in Port Aransas on for size. I turned around and scooted back across the bridge bound for Houston around 6PM. I wore the daylight out and was in Spring when the bike died again. Different kind of death though... I was racing sport bikes. It sounded like a rod. I blew the motor. It takes quite a bit of negligence to destroy the bullet-proof 1100 Honda. I am embarrassed to say that I did not check the oil before I took off on this little adventure.

I called a buddy of mine who lived around the corner and he came and rescued me from the Sonic at which my Honda had abandoned me. His roommate's girlfriend gave me a ride home to Conroe the next morning and I picked the bike up later that day.

I only snapped a few pics with my awkward iPad. My campsite right after I took my hammock down, 1000 year-old tree, and me on the beach.
