Sooo. . .

I've committed to riding at TWS (Texas World Speedway) April 7th. I've been watching the mentoring and promotion of safe riding and trackdays for a while now. Anyone's who's been on MH for more than 5 minutes knows I'm a staunch track hater. I gave it a try in 2008, and Murphy must have been testing out ideas for potential law reform then because after everything reasonable went bad, the problems grew increasingly absurd. But I figure if so many people enjoy it, my experience must have been an anomaly.

Mogee's getting new brake pads and perhaps a few upgrades--and no, I'm not trying to pass off an oil change as an upgrade. My leathers are on the way, and soon I'll go scrounge up some boots. Bought a GoPro so I can safely "document" and review what doesn't work. Have a trailer on lock, and Pam's gonna prep Mogee. Still not real wild about that taping up the tailights business; I understand why... but wish we could use clear tape.

So, if you're gonna be at TWS (Texas World Speedway) that day, post up! It'll be nice to see some familiar (or distantly familiar) folks. And if track people engage in hijinks and good-natured tomfoolery, the weekend after April Fools seems rather fitting.

Not sure about other TD orgs, but w/Ride Smart you are not supposed to be able to see the brake lights. Also, with clear tape it would be too difficult to determine at quick glance that someone's bike is prepped correctly. When you're going around a track, a CW can't tell you have clear tape vs no tape at all.

Not proud of it, but I actually went into a meltdown that day, was beyond reasoning with. It was just too much. But this will be a very different experience.

A couple of reasons: I've heard it's a fun track, but I've never been; Pam will be there (gonna trailer up with her), and I know I can depend on her to help navigate unfamiliar territory; and I have 4 days off in a row that particular weekend, so a short trip outta town will be nice. Plus it gives me just enough time to get everything ready but still beat the heat.

Bubby was awesome, very patient. He worked with my group that day, and he was one of the few things that worked out well.

Good Luck. I am considering going to TWS (Texas World Speedway) for that track day but its up in the air right now.

1) Get bike ready by then
2) Find a trailer to put bike on.

I solve those two challenges in time to sign up... I will be there as well Mala.

4/9/11 was my first td last year at TWS (Texas World Speedway) and was one of the greatest things I ever did. Learned a lot. psycomedic(Cullen) was a great instructor. Very helpful and very knowledgable. Good luck coming back to hit the track pipe

That's awesome Laurie! Sounds like it was the bike that was giving you trouble?

The track takes much more of a toll on a bike, which is why I've spent the last 6 weeks going through mine, and trying to make sure everything is in tip-top shape before my first one.

I'm taking the "7 P's" approach and hopefully it will work...

If that was directed at my statement, nothing really. Average speed is prob alot faster than the others tracks though.

I was meaning going to the track in general vs street riding.

Wait what? The lights are turned off. What does it matter if you can see clear plastic. As far as cw that is what the marshal is for by the time round robin is over everybody has called it in and the marshal informs them they are in fact taped up. It is a 30 second thing.

Not everyone wants/remembers to disable their brakes lights

If you're there, just don't be shocked if I target you for a bit of belated April Fools pranking. Anyone I know--even if remotely--will be a potential target.
