the main cause of the crash here is that the rider behind you is a little faster then you and like everyone said... he is responsible to control the distance between you and him.
He came up on you going way faster and didn't expected for you to be going that slow.. still HIS fault for not looking ahead and be ready to control his speed and distance up to your level..

I see how great riders like Brandt, Alonzo, Thomas, Alan and many others adjust their speed/distance/level and skills to the riders they are about to pass so they can make a safe pass.

Now.. I've done that before where I'm coming up on a slower rider and with out knowing what he's going to do I almost rear end it his going into a turn. I did that on my 3rd track day in level 1.5 lol

Now that I've done level 3 and ride with riders that are ether way faster than me or just the same speed and level I get to actually get a better read out of them by just following them for a few turns.. thrusting them that they are going to hold their line and that I will make a safe past with out having them come into my line..

Long story short... THE RIDER IN FRONT HAS THE RIGHT AWAY ALWAYS!!!!

ok, i called bullshit on the other thread... from how it was described by you, the asian and mike, I do not see that you caused any crash,,,, the guy who crashed caused the crash... period....
you were level 1 and you say you were off line at the launch, that happens at that level and upper levels too if the truth is known.... and once you are at the launch it is too late to correct you line and you basically have blown the next two turns....so either you compound the up and likely wind up out in the dirt or worse, or you try and save it, slow down and get back on line and go from there... that is what you did and what I would have done and anybody else that is not a moron seeking to break bones and take a helicopter ride.... it does not matter if 5 other guys who do not know what the they are talking about say you caused a wreck, it may make them feel better, but it does not make it so...sure you made a noobie to the track mistake, so did the guy behind you... only his was worse.. he and he alone is responsible for his mistake... I see no need for you to quit riding, no need to quit going to the track... the way to get better is to get back out there....and if the group you were riding with, i believe in this case it was ridesmart felt that your actions were putting other folks in abnormal danger it would have been their responsibility to black flag you and get you off the track....so suck it up, ignore the who complain because they are afraid of making mistakes and going down and want to find something or someone to blame it on.....
so you have let them destroy your confidence,,,, man up and take it back...

hah absolutely, in level 2 and 3 you put a huge amount of trust in the riders around you that they will be consistent, level 1 is completely mayhem compared to 2 and 3.

OP: good question--you're asking about something I'm sure other track noobs have had anxiety about.

Only gathered bits and pieces of early responses, but if someone (on the road or track) is squirreled up so close to you he can't compensate, it's his issue as well.

Don't beat yourself up...you caused someone to run off into the grass, right? Run. Off. In. The. Grass. It's embarrassing, but it doesn't even rank on the riding horror scale. I say that's a wholly affordable price if it generates as much self-reflection in that rider as this has for you.

Dude...this is suppose to be about having fun... Sucks you have this stuck in your head... try to let it go...

Like everyone said.. most likely the rider behind you..even if you mashed on the brakes.. it's your first time..

Track tells you how good you really are..now is the time to move forward, and put those words about the SV to the test...show us how fast you can be on that thing..

To me, hearing the accident from both sides that were present, my opinion is you weren't in the wrong and the guy behind you should've been looking out. The remarks I made however were for fun and play and motivation. Everyone learns at there own pace, some slower and some faster. If I am being to harsh then say so then I will chill. But for the most part i'm just joking around and i'm pretty sure everyone else who's made comments about your riding are doing the same. Take it in and wait for them to mess up and return the favor.

Its an amazing age we live in when technology can assist 6 year old children like this one to get on the internet and recite their recently learned jokes.
