Sounds like you already got your mind set already, but I find that salvage bikes are really only worth buying for track/race only, where you may not care about having all the pieces right, since you will either replace with race-grade stuff or scratch up what you have sooner or later anyway. Even then, it's iffey.

Sure you can save a few grand up front, but bits and pieces you find needing to fix later can nickle and dime you to death.

You can sell any bike, if the price is right. If you cannot do the touchy feely, assume the worst and price yourself according.

Actually this is my second choice of purchase. I'm looking at an 07 mustang GT Thur. if that doesn't go through them i'll start to really weigh my options. I'm hoping to get the bike for no more than 4k. I think I would be comfy at that price. Of course i'll try to get it cheaper but the guy has already come down like $700 and we're $300 off from my comfort price. But I know once I get up there, the ball will be in his court. As for flying, the price will be about the same around $200 to drive 9-10 hours each way or a little more to fly up there in a couple hours. I could actually be back in one day. Either way i'm out gas money or air fair if I don't get it.

Like I said before I do appreciate all the replies. It does make it a little easier to know i'm in the ball park.

Picked it up Friday, it's MYKOLJ's (sp?) old bike. It'll do just fine for now.
Was going to take it to the 1/4 that night but I soon realized I didn't have boots and gloves any more! WTH???
So i'll be out there next Friday I guess. Anyway, for those that know him you know the bike and for those that don't here it is.
Tonight i'll pull everything off and start to clean it up. It's just dusty but i can stand a dirty bike.

I opened this and thought, "that looks like my old bike".

And then I realized, that is my old bike that I had for my son. He thought it was too nice and we wound up doing a 1000 in it's place. I owned it for almost two (2) years; prior to that it was owned out of TN.

Small world.

With a salvage title, the Tax Office will go off of Kelly Blue Book, since it'll probably be more than you paid. I have a friend that got a cheap, lifted & loaded 06 Z71, with a salvage title. When the boy that he got it from, went with him to change the title, he realized he could of got 5 or 6 thousand more...

Salvage certificate or Rebuilt title. Pick one...

You can not legally drive a bike on the TX roadways with a salvage certificate.
