06 gsxr 1k opinions on pricing

all stock salvage title due to a wreck. Only thing that needed replacing was the all the fairings and can. All were replaced and ever thing looks good. Mileage is at 15k-0ish.

I'm not looking for bunch of BS answers. I'm thinking about flying out to get it and driive home. So i'd like to cut through all the BS replies and get some good opinions on this. I'm looking to jump on it asap.

My only concern is the value of a salvage bike I'm not worried about it mechanically.

what would you pay for this bike?
LMK...

Hmmm 06 1000 been wrecked but everythings back in original condition but with salvage title. My opinion would be no more than 5k closer to 4k would be a good deal though.

Keep in mind with a salvage title you cannot (technically) get full coverage. If you follow the steps to get a rebuilt title some companies will do full but most theft only.

For $5-5,500 you can find a clean title bike if you have cash and look high & low.

Bike values are diwn bcuz the market is saturated but with gas prices the values will climb rapidly.

750cc and up Supersports don't really appeal to the average guy that is buying a bike for the first(or first in a long time)time. So their values shouldn't go up like crazy compared to the 250-600cc bikes. For instance, my brother in law tried to sell his GS500F all last year, nobody came close to his asking price. He decided to keep it, he gave it to his son, and all kinds of people have stopped him and offered pretty much what he was asking for last year. He has decided to keep it though.

As I deal with a lot of GSXR1000s, my first questions would be the condition of the repairs. OEM fairings? forks straight, subframe straight. All locks keyed the same (trunk, tank, and steering)? frame recall done?

Regarding the insurance... proven wrong so many times. You can not legally drive a salvage certificate bike on the public roads. But when you go down to register the bike, the salvage certificate becomes a rebuilt title (blue title with denotation that indicates previous salvage and state). This rebuilt title bike can then be insured in any way that you choose (or can afford).

How about some pics and then maybe we can make a better assessment.

I had fogotten about the frame cracking problem. I wonder if it has NOT been taken care of by the dealership, if it will be voided out because it was put into the salvage/ rebuilt status.... I'll have to call the dealer tomorrow.
thanks guys i'm glad I asked....

I wouldn't pay more than 4k for it.

If you get bored or change your mind, its going to be a pita to sell.

Stuff that catches my eye when I look at your pics...

Obviously down on the R side. Sign of a "not quite quality repair"...
- where is the bar end?
- why is the clutch cover still all rashed (so easy to sand down and reshoot)?
- why leave the bent brake lever (these are cheap, just replace it)?
- dented titanium exhaust can?
- are those OEM fairings? Tailbox does not appear to be (not positive as I focus on '07-'11).
- stator cover replaced or is it just scraped badly?
- why is the L side of rear rim so chipped?

Just some things to consider.

And just to be clear, a rebuilt title bike is not difficult to sell if repaired properly. I have sold many in the past and had no issue selling them, but my bikes tend to be VERY clean (some would say MINTY).

Best of luck in your decision.

I noticed a couple of those things as well. I'll have to ask for a few more close ups of the areas of concern( for me at least) I like going through a bike once I buy one(when used) so I'll take it done and fix all the scraps and what not. those aren't my main concern. its the pricing really. I'm triying to com in at about 4 for the bike

In your opinion do you guys think 4 is a good deal? and add another $200-300 to get it here. I'm going up to get it if I can work a deal.

are you going to see the bike before you buy it , or just flying out there w/ cash in hand

IMO not worth the "savings"

i flew to NC to p/u the 'busa, but it was mint, not a recon title.

How do the forks look? Mine were when I purchased the bike. Right side was leaking worse than left, also had to get new tires.

I'm not real sure on the title laws but I have many clients with salvage bikes riding legally on the streets with liability. Now whether they are inspected and registered I'm also pretty sure the bike has to pass inspection first before you can convert the title to rebuilt. There is a process involved for sure and it would be best to call the tax office for clarification.

As for full coverage most companies do not inquire about the title status during the underwriting phase but would not knowingly offer full coverage on a rebuilt title bike. In a claim situation they could choose to deny a claim once they found out the title had been salvage before.
