with a dual sport I think it would be ok to go through a park, golf course, school just about anywhere. We are talking about on real motorcycles.

Meh - i'll do it if there is room and only for a short distance (3-5 cars max). Otherwise i just sit there with the rest of them.

Now, if its on the highway and we're stopped for an accident or because some dipshit had to stop in the middle of the road to reprogram his GPS? I'll hit the shoulder for that...

back in the early 60's, lane splitting was legal here, but riding the shoulder was not...I got in trouble for that a few times back when the tunnel and federal road was the only way over the channel... and federal road had the RR tracks...sometimes the back up would go all the way back to the tunnel and I would ride up the side to the tracks... the cop ate my and told me I could ride up the middle if I had the but not up the side...

Its ok they will be stuck behind the long line of cars

Its kinda like taking your 8 year old on the back of the bike. Its not the safest thing to do, but probay not the worst either.

I have done it occasionaly, like when I exited I-10 onto the feeder. Them cagers do 70-80mph on the feeder all the way up to the lights. I don't want to be killed, so I split up to the light. I should just go about 2-3 cars, but I don't have that will power..lol I've done it right next to cops. Most don't bat an eye, but one SOB was having a bad day and bitched me out.

In the Texas penal code it's classified as wreck less driving. "failure to drive or operate a motored vehicle within a single lane" and it's a go to jail offense, no ticket for that. Stay thirsty my friends

Lane splitting is a gray area. Motorcycles are allowed to lane share.

I don't normally feel unsafe when stopped because of my hi viz jacket, and I'd rather not make drivers jealous, so no I don't lane split.
