Lane splitting at stop lights?

I do it because I believe it is the safest place for me to be at when stopped waitting for the light to turn green. I dont have to worry about a cager taking me out from behind. Whats your take on it? Good or bad?

I ride right between the row of cars so that I am protected from being T boned. Then stop right passed the white line at the light so I am the first to go. Good thinking right!

I usually pull up right beside the car in front of me... but I don't go to the front of the line or even skip a car. I try to be respectful of the law while still being to the side of any accidental rearending that could happen and smoosh me in the middle. I think everyone should do what they want and if it ends poorly for them its on them.. My way could easily end in a smooshing between two broadsides.. so no right way

i don't have a prob. w/ that, but cagers will and it's illegal still.

i don't split up to teh ft, but i'm usually off to 1 side.

though it may be legal in TX 1 day.

Even right by your rear section of your car... I just get up just enough the rear bumper of the car gives me a little piece of mind...

Silver cars are statistically hit more often than other colors... I figure Silver bikes are even worse...

Ive lane split a couple times, once just to pull up next to another car so I don't worry about getting rear ended.

I've seen a thread like this before saying it was the safest thing to do, still illegal though. I haven't seen a bike do this in person until a few days ago. I usually get far over to one side. I may pull up next to the car in front of me if there is room.

I always stop on the side...never really lane split unless there's a wreck. Don't want some cager trying to kill me..

Once traffic stopped really fast and I was too late to brake so I split lanes and ended up stopping right next to the car that was in front of me, I was just a second too late of braking.

kinda scary but you gota do what you gota do.

why , you going to open your door? Try to push me off the road?

what if there is a wreck everyone has been sitting there not moving for 30 min or an hour... why not let the motos through? the cops usully don't even care.

It's not something I do regularly but I do it.

yea, I have taken the sidewalk too

I guess my greatest fear of getting hit is being hit from behind while stopped with a car in front of me... especially on the cbr600, with stock mirror on the 2011 you can not really see right behind you.. it makes me nervous... so moving up and out of the way is a necessity for me...if the cager does not like it 'em...though i hate making them nervous too..

I dont see what the big deal is with riding between cars for about 100-200 yards to be at the front of the line when the light turns green.

no, but at 250 yds, you have to rethink the situation...
