New Guy

Hey everyone, I am Jacob and am new to motorcycles, I have "caught the bug" and realized how much fun they can be and how much money and wear and tear I can save on my car by using a bike for my 150 mile round trip commute to work occasionally.

Currently looking for a first bike, leaning towards a Ninja 500 due to good MPG, better highway performance than a 250, parts abundance, and low used purchase price. If anyone knows of someone trying to get rid of one at a good price let me know, and I welcome other suggestions or comments on my first bike selection.

Hopefully there's a chance I may end up with one this weekend, scoping out a 2006 Ninja 500, unknown color, with around 5,600 miles for $2,200. Waiting on a reply from the seller. Wish me luck!

Good Luck on the Ninja 500... If that falls through take a look at SV650s they are a pretty decent starter bike and reasonably priced typically.

Welcome to the club.

Welcome....

Good choice not going with an SS. You have to make sure that thing is comfy for the very very long commute.

Nice bike you have for sale, wish I didn't feel like I needed to be so cheap on a first bike!

I wouldn't worry about it...just get a mechanically sound bike. Might want to have the seller meet you at a shop for a quick once over. Most shops would do it really cheap or even free.

You're going to put alot of miles on it so I definetly wouldn't spend a load of money on the thing...

I understand.. I spent 1800 on my first SV... bought the one im selling to ride something nicer... now I ride the first one all the time and that one is a garage queen. I like my beater better.

Get something you feel comfortable riding, something you can have fun on, doesnt matter what it looks like as long as your happy and enjoying yourself.

Also before the haters start on me again.. my first SV has a Salvage Title and was like 4th hand and pretty beat up... hence why so cheap.
