Bike Issues (not mine)

A buddy of mine is having problems with his bike....

"I thought I just fowled a plug the last time I rode, but after changing the spark plug it won't start.. It fires about every 5th kick , but only for 1 second.. We drained gas, checked everything.. Not sure..

Fish on!"

Anyone got any idea's I can pass along to him?

You may have lost compression from trying all this time.
How's the new plug now? wet?
If so poor some oil on the piston to rebuild compression, then try again with a new plug.

Is is 2 or 4 stroke?

MY GUESS is bad rings and no compression if a 2 stroke....does the kickstart lever have normal compression when kicking over....excess smoke is an indication of oil passing the piston and being burnt off. I'd check the top end before continuously starting....it may be getting ready to let loose.
