Akrapovic

All,

I had lunch with my buddy Ed on Sunday and got to see, and hear his new Akrapovic "can" on his BMW. Wow, what a difference, but his wallet is a lot lighter. The sound is sublime now instead of dead.

Sunday riding revealed more bikes out than I have ever counted. It is spring and they roll.

cheers,
Lucydad

Yup, premium cans and exhaust

And they generally have the performance to match the price

Though full exhaust are only worth the extra $, slip ons in generally don't get you as much gains from brand to brand

Slip ons for my bike are $1600 :(

The good thing about Akrapovic is that they design and test their slip-ons with unmodified bikes so remapping or rejetting the fuel delivery system is unnecessary.

and by the percentage of improvement according to the graph you posted, the benefit is minimal for the money and mostlly what you are getting is SOUND

if you are buying slip ons for the bling and sound factor go for it...
but if you actually expect them to make a difference in what the bike will do, how it will perform for you on the street.. keep your money in your pocket...
I am not bad mouthing the guys who spend their money to bling up their bikes and make the sound studio folks happy... just wipe the slobber from the corners of your mouth...

ok Bevo you don't get my point,,, that is ok.. I understand... UT and all...
but what actual difference can the average rider see in the performance of his bike with the limited increase that either of the options give... the one thing he really can tell a difference in is the sound... he is buying sound that is all....if the sound is something you like the money is worth it... if you are buying HP, you are spending way too much for that little increase...for MOST folks the bike as it comes is more than they have the actual talent to use...and they do not have the talent to make use of what little extra the exhaust might give them... so the only true and real benefit they get is the noise level...

The main thing I see in that graph is not the peak... it's the area under the curve.

Look at ~95hp area... the akra will be above 95hp for twice the range as stock. Less hunting for gears or staring at tachs.
