I had heard that about yamaha SS bikes as well...this is right down the road from work...sobering for sure

Supposedly, the ridges that stick out the side of Yamaha tanks are prone to grind off as the bike slides, leaking gas and causing potential fire hazard. Never seen it happen. I think I remember seeing after market protectors for the tanks.

I know the owner of the bike, the story I got is that he was letting his friend ride it and he crashed, no actual details, but the rider is doing ok as far as I know.

Seen an Sv goes up too... imagine any tank that can make contact with the roadway as it's sliding can go.

This is why the answer to the question "can I ride it?" is 99% of the time "no"

I've seen a lot of videos of the R6 catching fire. Hope the rider pulls thru with a 100% recovery.

For me it's %100 no. And for the same reason I wont ride a bike that's not mine.
