Uh-oh Gixxer getting Hot

Alright...was out tonight at ASI...ownage fixing to take off on my bike and next thing you know....THE HEADERS ARE GLOWING RED HOT!!!!!


What is the problem?

I don't know ownage...but what I've read here on MH....he likes to stunt....therefore, he wouldn't be riding my bike. Actually, if you don't own it....you ain't allowed to ride it.

his is the white and blue gsxr with the 12 bar and crash cage, street fightered.. but the bike wasnt being stunted tonight.. he just road up on it.. everything was fine.. then went to leave and BAM red hot headers...:confused1

when you first start your bike and let it warm up it is possible for the headers to glow red from the fire breathing motor you have

It sounds lean. Very lean if the exhaust is glowing red. check for an air leak

now that you mention that i think they were messing with the idle befor he left... i dont see how that would do it though...


so

1 clogged exhaust
2 running way lean maybe an air leak..

See if a vacuums unplugged or the intake clamps aren't tight. You can spray carb cleaner around the manifolds to check for air leak, if it revs up you found it. you can bring it by and I can take a look free if you can get it out here.

if somebody was messing with the idle and really leaned the idle out I guess maybe it could do that, but I'd think the idle would be all jacked at that point....(assuming its a carb. bike of course)

Nope...not carburated....this is an 05 GSXR 600.....I mean I know it's a stunt bike and all so I know t's gonna break on it....but last night, started it up, fixing to drive away on it and next thing you know.....glowing red hot like the eye's of the devil himself....... :laughing6

hmmm....on a FI bike......could still be lean.....is there an ambient air temp sensor? If that sensor went bad it could throw the fueling off....not sure.

doesnt read temp or tach anymore...dont know why.....never really cared cause it was a stunt bike.....but would like to fix it though......
