I never had the pleasure of owning a new tire, I only put on used pluged up tires and I mount them my self with a 2x4, I never had a problem.

Who would be liable if the tire was defective? Would they pay for the damages? Me, the shop or the manufacture. Could you 'sue' them at all?

Not that I would sue myself or the shop, but I would sure as go after the manufacture if I could.
Patrick pretty much hit the nail on the head with both of his replies. If something did happen, why did it happen is the million dollar question? Trying to figure that one out will take a lot of time and a whole bunch of finger pointing.

More importantly, it should be noted that the little shop that mounted your tire did so correctly and you have had no problems like always

FWIW, the tire was brought in off the bike, rim only, and the valve stem looked great!!!

humm.... after rereading all the comments I just want to make it clear that I have complete confidence in the work the shop we are talking about does. My questioning was just a "what if" scenario in my head. Nothing sparked it other than my bike, the road and I.

But while we are here... let's give a shout out... like I've said a million times before this shop is a first class, 100% all around awesome shop. They are full of knowledge and have great customer service. They don't treat you just like a customer, but they treat you like a friend. I know they have gone out of their way multiple times, not only for me but others as well, to help with anything you need. I could go on and on for day's about these guys.

I just wish MH would let them be a sponsor so that everyone can enjoy in their awesomeness.

Do you think Metzeler would have assumed liability for this one? I think I let this one go a little too long.
