What's their reason for not passing it? That's pretty surprising as most inspectors are college kids that don't give a sh*t. I try and take my job a little more seriously, even though it's just getting me through school, but a lot of the "regulations" in the rule book are pretty stupid.

To any of you who are interested motorcycle inspections include:
Brake test
Tire tread depth and sidewall condition
Low and high beam
Tail lamp
Stop lamp
Atleast one mirror
License plate lamp
Horn
Wheel assembly
Exhaust
Steering
Rear red reflector
And technically we're required to apply the sticker on a part of the bike that is rear facing, not saying I do this.

That's just the official list, not saying I enforce all of this personally.
And by the way turn signals are not part of a motorcycle inspection whatsoever.

Hope this helps
I'm a state inspector too. Though I hardly ever do them any more now that I don't have to do one every 30 days to keep my license. I try to make sure bikes have decent brake pads, mufflers, a horn, and look like you would actually survive riding them. However, I really don't care that much, I would just tell you the fix it rather than have to see you again... I certainly don't care about a bent rim, however if it's cracked, and barely holding air on your 100+hp sports bike... I'da probably fail you out of principal.

If you look like an undercover I would fail you on the spot for obvious stuff out of the ordinary. However, they tend to only hire old ladies, minorities and guys that look like cops to do that. Don't look like a cop, and certainly don't look like a cop that was fired and can only work for the DPS as an inspection troll. (read: cop stash and fat) Cruiser riders rarely get a pass from stuff out of the ordinary, but they usually pass because the don't rack up a lot of miles around here.

Also... why do people take the rear and/or side reflectors off their black or dark colored bikes? Do you really want to be seen less? Do you really want to be stealthy on the interstate in front of that black impala on 20"s doing 85 mph?
