Being poor doesn't equate with stupidity or negligence.

Don't tell me they couldn't hear the baby screaming as the dog took off it's toes?

I hear my daughter in the middle of the night if she just coughs.

I know a little about dogs and their behavoirs.

I used to breed shepherds, specifically Heidelberg shepherds.

Great animals, but not very sociable by nature.
If you weren't a member of the family, they would be very protective of their territory, it's just they're nature.

For awhile when I lived in Colorado, I also raised wolves and shepherd / wolf hybrids.

I don't care if they were raised from puppyhood by hand, they were what they were.
We only sold them as guard / attack animals to professionals, with one of the stipulations that they were not to be around children.

I know I'll take some heat for this, but a Pits nature is to kill / maim.

I don't care how "domesticised" it's been trained, it's still in their nature.
You can't argue that.

Anyone who has one in a house with a child is taking their chances IMO.

Nothing may ever happen, but I'm not willing to bet my families safety on it.

Still doesn't change my view on the parents not hearing the baby, nor my view on Pits around children in general.
I'm not basing it on the "media". We all know how reliable they are.:eh:

I'm basing it on first hand experience with multiple breeds of dogs and knowing many well respected breeders.

Like I said, my 2 cents, you're welcome to disagree, no skin off my nose.

i completely agree with you there. people always want to point the exceptions to the rule, but often these exceptions end up snapping. and it's not just with pitbulls, though i do think they are exceptionally bad, but the fact that pitbulls have so much power just makes them far too dangerous for common housepets. can't people get labradors or something with a less violent history? it seems like an image thing now, people brag about their pits like they would brag about a pair of expensive shoes or glock(things i associate with people who have boners for pits)
