What annoys me is when some seller gets all butthurt and angry because my "offer" offended him.

i hate to offend anyone accidentally.... that is why if i think a price is way too high i do not make on offer.....if anyone is offended by something i do, i want it to be by something i did on purpose....

This stuff cracks me up.

It's a business deal. Negotiate, agree or disagree; it's not personal.

If you get hurt at an offer or later whine that you overpaid, you aren't mature enough to engage in the horse trading.

I will say agreeing to a deal, then renegotiating makes you a little . It happened to me once after a guy took my $500 to hold while I went to get my truck. The crappy deal was on the way to get my truck, I called a friend and agreed to sell him a bike he always wanted since thought I had a replacement. Yes, I followed through anyway.

The fact that you call it an "offer" instead of an offer says that you know you're low-ballin' like a . Yea, I'd get offended. Offering 50% of NADA is like saying "hey dude, your bike is a piece of compared to the average."

Be realistic in terms of pricing. A fair shake for a fair bike. Here's a link to the last bike I sold on here.http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=166443 I think I sold it for a reasonable price, and I think the buyer got a reasonable deal.

When you own something, you have the right to ask what you want for it. When you want to buy something, you have the right to do so or not. If someone corners the market on breathable air, it would be a different story...

If you're trying to plead sensibility of pricing, this is a poor plan. If you feel like you've simply been wronged, then I don't have anything more to say about it because it is pointless more than likely.

EDIT: let me read through the thread since I appear to be confused on the specifics.

Honestly, most people are realistic with pricing. The reality is that SOMEONE will pay what they're asking. Why should they lower their price just because you think its high?

I just went through this as a seller last year when I sold off both my Duc 900SS and ST3 via craigslist. What I thought they were worth was a bit over what the market was willing to bear. Frankly I didn't even bother to check kbb or nada, I just threw out what I felt was a fair estimation of their worth. No hits, no emails whatsoever. Checked on kbb, realized how far off I was from "book value", dropped the price on each accordingly and they each sold within a week. Sometimes the seller may not have done their homework as was my case. Just hope you can find a seller who didn't do their homework and estimated the value too low, betcha won't complain then.

Nowadays, I window shop on cl for project bikes because I like suffering . It always strikes me as funny when I see some incomplete, locked up engine, no title absolute piece of chit for $800, "I know I can get more for the parts bro so no lowballers" kind of ad. If it were something interesting, say an old triumph/bsa/harley or anything pre-vietnam, sure, otherwise its a bucket of nothing.

Say a hurricane comes through, powers out...

Stores increase the price of things like water, gasoline or necessities by 200-500...
That is price gouging.

Besides, it's too late. I posted one of my bikes up 6 months ago. I even posted it on MH. I didn't get a single bite. I posted it this morning at 9:00 on CL and my phone rang off the hook. I had to empty my text message cache twice. It was sold by 11:30. I posted it for $300 MORE this time.

It's a sellers market right now because of gas prices. 90% of the people that contacted me wanted it for that reason. I could have posted it for $500 more and it still would have sold. While I was showing it to the buyer 2 guys from Louisiana called and both offered me even more. Had to say sorry, already had cash in hand.
