Price Gouging?

It's been bugging me for a while, so why not see what everyone else has to say. What's with everyone thinking their used bike appreciates in value? I understand trying to maximize your return, and a bike is worth what someone else is willing to pay, but come on. There are resources for pricing: nadaguides, and kbb. I don't know about everyone else, but I always reference those guides when looking at any bike. Just because you have negative equity in the bike doesn't translate into me wanting to bail you out. Or, just because your graced the seat doesn't mean the value increased. If you bought a bike at one price, then rode it and wrecked it, how do you presume the bike is now worth more?

Edit: ^^^^

Yes most used bike prices are inflated as . Ppl think u can get a return investment on every single aftermarket part u add on. U gotta know how to haggle with these ppl and make em realize their bike isn't worth it.

I feel your pain, while I was shopping for bikes it seemed like if it's an '04-'08 they are all about the same price, give or take a few. I nearly took the bait on a couple of rags, because at a point you just want to get a bike and start riding. People are proud of their bikes, so they gotta ask what they think they want for it, but what they get is generally very different, be patient and shop around, the right one will pop up.

If you don't like the price, just move on to the next one. There are always other options.

No need to get worked up over it.

Funny when people whine about someones price.

If you don't like it, move along. If I am selling, that's what I want out of it.

A seller usually puts the price a bit high, just to let the buyer feel better about haggling them down.

If it's priced ridiculously high, it'll sit until the price is lowered or the "right" buyer comes along.

if it is priced too high, I will not even make an offer...
if i think it is a little high, i will make an offer and see what they say...
but then again i think most things are too high... groceries, gasoline....

Or better yet, they set the price right, then email you back saying they got a higher offer....

Ok fairly certain this is directed at me... I think that everyone likes to feel they got a good deal. Price high.. agree on a price..noth parties win. you get closer to what you want for the bike..they feel they saved money by haggling you down. BTW kbb trade in value seems to be the going rate on offers.. LAME.. Its not about bailing anyone out.. those people love their bikes..and if the right buyer comes by..that falls in love with it then the value goes up for both parties in the change over.
