How to clean leathers

I was wondering, what's a good way to clean your leathers. Specifically a jacket, what are some products or things that will not harm your leather. Is it safe to put it in the washer? Anything would help.

I use weiman leather wipes. There are probably better ways to clean leather, but they are easy and cheap.

I once heard someone mention biscuit mix as being the best at cleaning and conditioning, but haven't really found enough facts about it.
