All of the bikes here are GP shift. I drove a 150cc Suzuki down the block today. The shift pattern was N-3 down. The guy on the back kept telling me to slow down. I was thinking ... slow down? We're doing like 15mph. He told me that 40mph is about as fast as most of these guys have ever driven a bike.

Fun ride though. EVERYONE looks at you here so you really get attention on a bike. Fun ride. However, the front brake would go all the way to the handle - not quite the same feel as HH pads and steel brake lines!

Most of the bikes have GP shift but not all of em...some bikes are 5 speed too...most of the older ones are 4 speed...sum of them are N-4 up. I came across this strange bike called Royal Enfield(correct me if i'm worng) or sumthing...that bike has the shifter on ur right foot( which is usually ur rear brake padle) and the rear brake on ur left foot... thats the only one bike with this kinda setup..people who are not familiar with this bike usually end up wrecking it coz they shift instead of brake when it comes to stopping the bike:laughing6

I'm rich beotch! 5000 Rupees.

Actually .... it's only about $116.00

Stuff is cheap here though. A bottle of Coke is rs20. A full meal will run you about rs350 (at the hotel) and you get enough food to choke a horse. I hired a car [Toyota Corolla] WITH A DRIVER for $30 per day. And he waits outside the office in case I need to go anywhere. That's what I call service!

Speaking of service, the service here is excellent. I've had no less than two waiters at most restaurants. Unlike that beotch waitress at IHOP who you only see twice an hour! But I digress ....

Starting to get homesick though. I had to bust out the iPod today and listen to some music.

Next blog entry ........

I OWNED that "strange" bike for 7 years before i came to US . These days, they have started making royal enfields with shifter on left foot. but we old timers dont call them "real" royal enfields:icon_bigg

yups, the biggest difference between US and India. is that services here are MUCH cheaper than in US, but materials are MUCH costlier. demand and supply u c!

I had lunch at the LeMeridian today (the hotel that I should be at if it wasn't full!). Awesome hotel. That's where Brangelina Pitt was staying last month (that was a big deal here by the way)

I'm now at the Raddison in New Delhi. 2 Hour flight from Pune. This hotel is awesome! Early rise at 6AM for a 3 hour trip to Agra.

One negative ....
People here are very impatient. Imagine 30 people on a bus. The door opens and everyone tries to crowd out of one door at once. They actually shove and rub up against each other to race off the bus. Waiting in line and personal space don't mean t. You can be "in line" for 10 mins, the doors open, and here come the people cutting in front of you!

A market street (and common scene) in Mahalabeshwar. This is the place in the mountains where I took the pics of the waterfalls. There were strawberry farms at the top of the mountain.

yups. thats sad. There was one white couple on my flight when I landed here and I was feeling pretty bad seeing them right at the back becuase everybody else was jostling there way forward

My deduction is that that stems from having way too many ppl and much lesser resources. So everywhere, ppl learn to cut everybody out and get some for them. Pretty sad nonetheless.
