I'm in India - Here's some bike pics

What's up everybody. I've been here in India for about 8 days. Should be returning on the 18th. There are about 100 bikes to every car here. Most are 100-150cc. Low bandwidth here so I can't post many pics yet. Traffic is CRAZY! Basically the rules are ..... don't hit anything. If there is an empty space then someone will fill it. Most of the women ride side saddle. If you look on the left side of the bike you'll see a wheel guard and stoop for their feet.

That hotel was pretty expensive (about $300 a night). I only stayed there for 6 hours until my flight to Pune - which is where I am now. Meals are about $12 ... that's in the hotel. Everywhere else they're about $2-$3.

I'll be in New Delhi for two days then it's off to Agra to see the Taj Mahal!

You never know. I would've said the same thing 5 years ago. I'm here on business so the cost is very low for me.

The 11.5 hour time difference is kickin' my !

GSXR1000!!! You'd never get out of 1st gear!

All of the bikes here are GP shift. I drove a 150cc Suzuki down the block today. The shift pattern was N-3 down. The guy on the back kept telling me to slow down. I was thinking ... slow down? We're doing like 15mph. He told me that 40mph is about as fast as most of these guys have ever driven a bike.

Fun ride though. EVERYONE looks at you here so you really get attention on a bike. Fun ride. However, the front brake would go all the way to the handle - not quite the same feel as HH pads and steel brake lines!

Quite a few of my co-workers have been to Bangalore and as a matter of fact, another one is just about to leave. My turn to go was blown when India decided to have a powercontest with Pakistan in regards to nuclear weapons. They called my whole trip off 1 week prior to going. That was a few years ago, wish I had a chance to go again but school schedule won't even allow me to volunteer right now.

Definitely something I wanna see one day.

Bikes in india are usually 100-150 cc. The max is like 350 cc with around 20 HP. Even if you have a higher cc, you can't get to use it because of the high traffic. Although few people have sport bikes like in US. There is no road course. You gotta learn with the help of friends, family.
