I am against running from the police, but a 600, especially a 1000 will always out run a police car. It all comes down to the circumstances of the chase and the rider on what the outcome will be. For eight cars to chase a motorcycle is pretty ridiculous. I could understand if eight cars set up on eight surrounding streets, but for eight police cars to tail a motorcycle is a waste of time I think. If its really worth the chase they need to bring out the chopper.

Just what tax payers need. More gas guzzling cruisers to feed. Lets go ahead and put some more Metro buses on the road while we are at it.

or dont chase in the first place. try some actual police work and catch them later on. people will live longer that way.

as a father, thank they lived, as a father what could be so bad to run, as a father his father FAILED! We had a talk about this the other day and what a lack of respect our society has on police in general, when i was a kid i snuck out at 2:30 in the morning and was out around in jersey village. the police slammed my punk to the ground, guess who never snuck out again.

Running wont always end dependent on how well the rider can control the bike. :/ Sometimes they die or kill others in the process. It's awful to drag a passenger into that.

....if they didn't run there'd be no need to chase either. Maybe if one is busted for running, if the police don't chase and 'catch them after the fact' part of the punishment should be a public bare spanking.

Act like a child, get punished like one...

and if the bike is stolen? what then? what if the bike stolen was yours and the cops came to your house cause they were doing "actual police work" and took you to jail for running? what then?

The majority of chargers the police are using are equipped with the POS 3.5L v6.

There was another one like that in Pasadena a year or so ago. Stolen crotch rocket, guy riding with his girlfriend on the back, ran from the law. He splattered all over the road, killed himself instantly; unfortunately she suffered for a while before she died. I saw her photos in the Medical Examiner's office. It wasn't pretty.

Dave, pursuing people IS actual police work. It's part of what has to happen.

If they're running at IMMENSE PERSONAL RISK, then they're worth pursuing. SOMETHING has gone terribly wrong in such a way that they'd rather die than be apprehended. Well, that sounds like someone who should be apprehended - at least to find out what the heck is going on. Stolen? Fleeing scene of another crime?

If they stole my bike I would want them pursued.
