Then again, I dunno, I've never done it.
I've never been a very competitive guy, except when riding. I loved racing friends in the dirt. This is really something more than competition for me though. Ever since I saw sport bikes racing around on TV I wanted that. I didn't think I could have it. Didn't know it was so accessable once you have a bike. So, even if I'm not one of the fastest, I want those numbers, on my bike. I want the accomplishment of just getting to the point I'm able to race.

Now if I lose all year, I'm sure it won't be nearly as fun, but if I see improvement I'll be happy.

When I was out there, I wasnt racing necessarily for 1st place.

I was racing to get ahead of the guy in front of me, and keep the guys behind me from passing me.

If you ask me, THATS what racing is all about.

I see the OP has had a change of heart since a conversation we had last summer. (His texts to me yesterday were confirmation. ) And now he's poking everyone else in the eye for not having a license. Good for him.

Also, yes. Get your race license. Racing will make you faster and more comfortable on the track. The end.

Me? Licensed since 1987. WERA lifetime license holder. OG with the CRRC, Former AMA license holder. Former CCS license holder. CMRA lifetime license holder.

Not poking of prodding, just wanted to see what we had here.

I don't like the excuse, "well, I wont be a contender for first place so I wont race at all...."

I guess that is exactly my excuse when you boil it down.

Don't misunderstand me - I'm okay with your poking and prodding.

"I'm broke", "I'm scared", "my wife won't let me", "I can't get off work on the weekends", even "I prefer track days" are but a few of the myriad of excuses that are better and more acceptable than than the one you use, but you'd be surprised how many times I've heard this.

"I don't show up and do anything because someone else might be better at it than I am."

I think I'm screwed in the head. I love going to the races, and go just about every one that's close enough, I think it would be a lot of fun, make enough money where I COULD, and I know I wouldn't come in last. . . . I just never take the plunge. I plan on doing a lot more TDs this year at least. Maybe then I'll finally get off my .

Planning on getting my license back this year. On a diet to get back into my leathers properly and then I'm ready. Bikes are ready to go.
